The Islamorada Fishing Club’s Captain’s Cup Dolphin Tournament is right around the corner, and it promises not only thrilling competition but also the chance to win a grand prize of up to $25,000. This winner-takes-all event is set to take place on Wednesday and Thursday, June 26-27, in the stunning Florida Keys.

Big Prizes Await

According to the event directors, a guaranteed $10,000 payout will be awarded, with the prize pool increasing by $1,000 for every boat registered over ten. If the number of participating boats reaches 25, the total prize money could hit a whopping $25,000. So, whether you’re a seasoned angler or a weekend warrior, there’s a substantial incentive to register and compete.

Join the Fun

Slots are still available, so don’t miss out on your chance to join the fun and competition. The event kicks off with a party at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, at the club’s temporary location, 80939 Overseas Highway. Here, participants will enjoy a buffet-style meal and have the opportunity to mingle with fellow anglers.

Tournament Day

The main event begins bright and early on Thursday, with lines in the water starting at 7:30 a.m. The one-day boat-format tournament means it’s all about strategy and skill from dawn till the weigh-in at 3-5 p.m. Fish must be brought to the club’s certified weigh station by car, and each team’s three best dolphin fish will determine the winners.

Weigh-In and Awards Banquet

The excitement culminates at the weigh-in, located at the club’s temporary site. Each fish must be presented with the angler who caught it and must arrive by 5 p.m. The tournament wraps up with an awards banquet at 6:30 p.m., where the winning team will be announced and celebrated.

Entry Fees and Registration

If you’re looking to join, the early entry fee is $1,700 for the first two anglers on a boat and $300 for each additional angler until June 8. After this date, the fee increases to $1,950 for the first two anglers and $350 for each additional angler. Each boat can have up to four anglers, and the entry fee includes tickets to all the social events.
