Grouper can be caught year-round in Florida. But, the best time to target them is usually during the cooler months, from November to April. This is when these fish move closer to shore, making them more accessible to anglers.
Grouper Fishing Techniques
Grouper fishing typically involves bottom fishing with heavy tackle. Due to the size of these fish and their habit of seeking cover in reefs and structures when hooked. Live or cut bait such as squid, pinfish, or sardines is often used. Although jigs and deep-diving plugs can also be effective.

Groupers are known for their ability to change colors and patterns to blend in with their surroundings. They’re also known for their loud, rumbling sounds, which they make by vibrating their swim bladder. Grouper fishing just got a little more interesting.
